Tennessee Licensed Court Reporter (LCR)

To be licensed as a court reporter in Tennessee, an applicant shall submit proof of passage of the National Court Reporters Association Registered Professional Reporter examination.

Certified LiveNote Reporter (CLR)

The CLR is the only national certification that trains and tests realtime reporters on the technical aspects of providing realtime to attorneys or judges. The training teaches reporters to connect and troubleshoot the realtime transmission.

Registered Merit Reporter (RMR)

The RMR exam consists of a written knowledge test that focuses on four areas of knowledge and three sections of a skills test, including Q&A at 260 words per minute, passing with 95% accuracy.

Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR)

The CRR exam tests candidates on setting up and operating equipment, and accurately writing realtime for five minutes at 96% accuracy.

Certified Legal Video Specialist (CLVS)

The CLVS certification process is comprised of three steps. Candidates must attend a seminar and pass both a written and a practical exam. The CLVS program sets and enforces standards for competency in the capture, utilization, and retention of legal video and promotes awareness of these standards within the legal marketplace. NCRA strongly recommends the use of a CLVS to ensure the integrity of both the video of legal proceedings and the official transcript.
